The basic 6.5-horespower Lawn-Boy Insight 10682 mower is a rear-wheel drive 3-in-1 (mulch, bag, or side discharge) machine that lacks an adjustable handle and has a slower maximum speed (3 mph) than other Insight or Insight Gold variable-speed models. However, the "Easy Start" engine has a large recoil and a very comfortable oversize recoil starter handle to boot, so starting takes less effort with this model than with other comparable mowers.

A guide on the handlebar keeps the rope out of the way when emptying or refitting the bag, which is a single-handed operation because there is no trap door to hold open. Engage and control the drive speed by squeezing the drive speed control bar more or less toward the handlebar. There is no throttle. Adjusting the cutting height is made easier by a large lever at each wheel and clearly numbered stops from 1 to 4 inches. To stow the mower, loosen four comfortable knobs to bi-fold the handlebar. Lawn-Boy's large radius wheels make it a bit easier to maneuver this mower. Unlike the "limited" warranty coverage on most mower brands, Lawn-Boy offers a 2-year "full-coverage" warranty.
