Lawn-Boy 10683 Gasoline-Powered Push Mower
Date Published: 2/21/07
Designed for comfort and ease of use, the Lawn-Boy 10683 gasoline-powered push mower combines all the elements you need in an economically priced 3-in-1 mower. All the essentials are nicely featured in a user-friendly package, including a tri-notch blade that cuts grass finer, creating a more efficient and usable mulch. Converting between the mulch, rear bag, and side-discharge mode is a snap and only takes a few seconds between each function -- all without the use of any tools. We were impressed by the simplicity of the easy-lift rear bag, which proved to be the easiest of any manufacturer's models that we tested. Detaching the bag and putting it back in place is a breeze and can be done with just one hand since there is nothing that has to be held open when lifting the bag. And the bag easily fits through the opening of the handlebars, even when it is full.
Lawn-Boy has also simplified mowing by including a deep-dome deck and hi-vac bag with large opening so you not only get improved mulching performance, but you also get super efficient bagging since less grass falls back on your lawn. A 21-inch, 14-gauge steel trim edge deck is impervious to flying rock and debris, and inset wheels allow for close trimming on both sides. At 69 pounds, the mower is still lightweight enough to maneuver around flowerbeds, trees and other landscape features, and the easy-turn wheels roll smoothly to help maximize maneuverability and minimize muscle power.
This mower has a great design, not just in its clean and contemporary appearance but also in efficiency and ergonomic function. It is outfitted with a quiet 6.5-horsepower Tecumseh engine for reliability and power, and the easy-to-reach recoil starter consistently starts the engine on the first or second pull. A safety feature stops the blade (engine) within 3 seconds when you simply let go of the mower handle. Custom features such as the soft comfort grips that cushion your hands along with the SimpleSet Handle help personalize comfort and fit. If you've got several family members who take turns mowing the lawn, the adjustable SimpleSet Handle really comes in handy as the mower can be quickly and easily adjusted with a single easy-to-reach knob to accommodate just about any size user.
Heavy-duty wheels are a highlight of this mower, with large front radius wheels that roll smoothly for easier maneuvering on grass. Each wheel adjusts individually to accommodate cutting heights ranging from 1 to 4 inches. And the wheels are so easy to adjust with an extra-wide lever that moves without difficulty regardless of finger strength. Of all the mowers we tested with wheels that adjust individually, the Lawn-Boy is first rate and by far the easiest to maneuver. Storage is made simple by two oversized Easy Stow Knobs that allow you to store your mower handles in a 180-degree position.
The Lawn-Boy 10683 gasoline-powered push lawn mower offers the best value in its class with a distinctively designed mower that provides even cutting and is extraordinarily easy to use.
