Kreisen's LT-30FMP is an affordable 30-inch LCD TV that can display high-definition programming and PC content with equal ease. The native resolution is 1,280X768, although a separate HD receiver is required to watch high-definition content.

The wide-aspect ratio screen has a contrast ratio of 450:1, and colors come through with richness and vibrancy, with nearly 16.8 million colors displayed. The screen is very bright, with luminance rated at 550 cd/m2, and the viewing angle is 170 degrees, providing plenty of screen placement flexibility.

A 4H digital comb filter ensures that dot crawl and rainbow effects are kept at a minimum. Edges are very sharp, thanks to digital color and luminance transient improvement. Computer content is displayed at the WXGA level.

The silver monitor has side-mounted speakers and a removable pedestal stand. The stereo speakers are rated at a total of 20 watts of audio output, and the audio is configurable for speech, movies, music, standard, or a custom setting. The picture has four presets to make adjustments quick and easy.

Other convenience features include an adjustable sleep timer, channel labeling, memory for five favorite channels, and closed captions. Only one internal NTSC tuner is included, so the picture-in-picture and split-screen functions require the addition of a second tuner or other programming source.

The LT-30FMP has no front or side connections, but the rear panel provides an RF input, a composite video input, an S-video input, a component video input, a VGA/SVGA input, a DVI interface for PC use, a PC audio input, a set of audio/video outputs, and a subwoofer output. The remote has a simple design that makes control of the TV and its associated components convenient and intuitive.

The Kreisen LT-30FMP is more affordable than many other 30-inch LCD TVs, but remember that you won't get HD programming without a separate HD receiver.
