The Kreisen KR-260T is a sophisticated 26-inch LCD TV that is HD-ready, PC-capable, and attractively designed. Fortunately, in this case sophisticated and feature-rich do not mean expensive.

The wide-format flat screen is framed in black and set into a silver cabinet, with stereo speakers on either side of the screen. Control buttons are arrayed along the right side, and the removable pedestal stand makes positioning this compact TV even easier, whether on a tabletop or mounted on the wall (a separate bracket is required).

The picture is very bright and sharp, with a resolution of 1,280X768, a contrast ratio of 600:1, and a digital 4H comb filter to eliminate hanging dots and dot crawl. Viewable from an impressive 176 degrees, the picture boasts 16.7 million colors. Detail is enhanced by digital luminance transient improvement, and edges are kept sharp with digital color transient improvement. The internal stereo system features four speakers rated at 10 watts of audio output per channel. The volume may be automatically controlled to reduce sudden loud bursts from commercials, and five audio presets are provided to make it easy to quickly adjust the sound settings. The internal sleep timer will come in handy if this set finds its home in a bedroom.

The rear panel of the KR-260T has a broad array of inputs and outputs for use with digital and analog components. The selection includes an RF input, an S-video input, a set of component video inputs, an HD component video input, a DVI interface for PC use, PC audio and analog RGB D-sub inputs and a pre-amplified subwoofer output. The remote control has a simple layout and glow buttons to make nighttime surfing a breeze.

The screen can be split for viewing two images at full height, and the Kreisen KR-260T is also equipped for picture-in-picture viewing.
