KitchenAid KBLS20ET built-in refrigerator
Date Published: 8/13/08
A cabinet-depth refrigerator with a medium capacity and a great stainless steel door style, KitchenAid's KBLS20ET has some great convenience features that will help you enjoy your new fridge to the fullest, as well as performance features that give you an optimally running fridge.
In the energy-efficient bottom-freezer configuration, the Kitchenaid KBLS20ET is an Energy Star model, which means that it has been designed to use less energy than other models in its size and configuration class. This fridge is in compliance with the updated 2008 Energy Star standards.
This model has a total capacity of 19.9 cubic feet of space, which makes it most appropriate for a couple or small family. The fresh foods area has 14.4 cubic feet of room while the freezer has a capacity of 5.5 cubic feet.
The KitchenAid KBLS20ET has several nice features, the most noteworthy being the internal chilled water dispenser. This dispenser is a relatively new feature in bottom-freezer refrigerators, but it is a very welcomed one. The dispenser itself is a mere button and spout on the interior side wall of the fresh foods compartment. It's unobtrusive and handy for those who like to get chilled water on demand from their fridge, and it runs through an integral water filter, ensuring that your water is clear and clean.
Other interior features include two clear adjustable door bins and a clear dairy keeper as well as a can rack. The main fresh foods compartment has four split-width adjustable glass shelves that have a spillsaver feature, and all shelves are the slide-out type. This model also has a full-width fixed glass shelf above the two humidity-controlled clear crisper drawers.
The freezer compartment has a very small capacity of only 5.5 cubic feet, so if you like to freeze lots of items for future use, you will likely have to purchase a separate freezer-only unit, since this freezer is large enough to store only often-used items. Compounding the available freezer space problem is the automatic ice maker and storage, which is a wonderful feature but takes up some of the freezer space.
We love the pullout style of this bottom freezer, since all items are quickly visible when you open the freezer door. The KitchenAid KBLS20ET has both upper and lower freezer baskets that slide out. The baskets are sturdy and can easily slide out, even when loaded with heavy frozen items. This cabinet-depth refrigerator has stainless steel doors and handles and a black cabinet.
The KBLS20ET cabinet-depth refrigerator is a relatively inexpensive, quality built medium-size bottom-freezer model that is delightfully energy efficient.
Pros: Energy efficient, some nice extras like interior water dispenser, nice appearance
