KitchenAid KBFS25ET Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator
Date Published: 2/4/08
KitchenAid's KBFS25ET is a large-capacity bottom-mount refrigerator with a host of convenience and performance features that turn the normally utilitarian fridge into a cherished kitchen centerpiece. It isn't cheap, but this French-door model is competitively priced with similarly-featured bottom mount models, and it gives you a lot for your money.
The build quality of the KBFS25ET is apparent throughout, from its clean, contemporary exterior design to the solid feel of its crisper drawers and other interior details. This unit is similar in design to Amana's AFF2534, except the KBFS25ET is equipped with electronic features like a sophisticated interior temperature-management system and an internal water dispenser. This model contains 24.8 total cubic feet of interior storage space, with 17.5 cubic feet in the refrigerator compartment. Despite the large size, the KBFS25ET uses approximately 505 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which amounts to an annual operating bill of approximately $46.
The KBFS25ET has the desirable smart-seal feature, which consists of a vertical panel on the left French door that flips out when the door closes, producing a tight door seal. Without this essential feature, the doors would likely develop seal problems after a few years.
Inside the KBFS25ET, you'll find a wealth of helpful features, such as multiple door bins and a handy can rack capable of holding up to four cans or small bottles. There is a full-width deli/snack drawer, something many French-door-design refrigerators lack. Above the deli drawer are two clear-front humidity-controlled crispers. The KBFS25ET has four split-width tempered-glass shelves, and a spill-saver lip keeps leaks and spills contained. All four half-shelves slide out easily and smoothly.
The internal filtered-water dispenser is located on the left wall of the main compartment. The KBFS25ET's electronic temperature controls for both the refrigerator and freezer are located on the top front of the main fridge compartment. The controls are easy to use.
The bottom-mount freezer includes a pair of slide-out, removable baskets. There is also an automatic ice maker and bucket. If you need ice in a hurry, the KBFS25ET has a quick-ice production option, so you'll never run out of ice while entertaining.
Color choices are white, black and stainless steel. For a large-capacity bottom-freezer refrigerator with a plethora of options, consider the KitchenAid KBFS25ET.
