KitchenAid Dish Drawer KUDD01DPPA built-in dishwasher
Date Published: 6/9/05
Fisher & Paykel's revolutionary dishdrawer is now available in a version bearing KitchenAid's familiar brand name. The KitchenAid Dish Drawer KUDD01DPPA lacks a few features offered on the original Fisher & Paykel model--but as a result can be expected to cost a bit less.
Under the KitchenAid brand, the unit is marketed somewhat differently than the original: It is sold as a double drawer unit only. Its quality construction and flexible operation, however, are every bit as good as the model tagged with the Fisher & Paykel logo.
The primary benefit remains the ability to run separate half loads whenever necessary. Gone forever is the guilt of running a partially full dishwasher. Instead, with this model you can run an economical and convenient half-load while saving both water and electricity. Estimated to be about 33 percent more efficient than a traditional dishwasher, this model looks even better when you consider its versatility. With the ability to wash two loads simultaneously, it's easy to customize each load to its contents.
Large, heavily soiled items can be washed in one drawer with a powerful cycle, while fine crystal wine glasses can be washed in the other drawer using a short, gentle cycle. For the space-conscious, this model is even better than having two dishwashers, since the work of two dishwashers fits in the space of just one. Pricing on this unique style is also starting to fall in line as the technology becomes more commonplace.
Expect to pay less for the KitchenAid Dish Drawer KUDD01DPPA than for the Fisher & Paykel unit. Exterior finishes include shiny or brushed stainless steel and black. Another option is a panel kit used to match the dishwasher door to the kitchen cabinetry.
Pros: Washes half-loads or two loads of different types, price coming down
Cons: available as a double unit only, lacks adjustable racks
Warranty
2 years, full; 5 years, racks, shelves, baskets
