KitchenAid Architect Series 30-Inch Electric Cooktop KECC508RPS

Date Published: 4/19/06

Embedded electronic controls account for the higher price tag on the KitchenAid Architect Series 30-Inch Electric Cooktop KECC508RPS.

Easy to clean, this unit has its controls integrated right into the glass surface of the cooktop. Especially convenient is that it only takes a light solution and a quick wipe to clean this unit, since there are no bulky knobs to clean around.

The elements, housed in black glass, are framed in stainless steel and make this cooktop a perfect selection for a sleek, modern, and commercially influenced kitchen design. In fact, this model is so sleek, that it creates a virtually seamless integration with the countertop.

The 2500-watt element offers a triple circuit that conveniently adjusts to three circular pan sizes. When cooking, choose the size that best matches the circumference of the pan you are using to receive the most direct and efficient heat. Of the four elements, two work well for simmering and are rated at 1200 watts.

All four elements have hot surface indicator lights for safety, since the unit retains heat even after shutoff. It is important not to touch the elements or rest any non-cooking items on them until the lights indicate the heat has dissipated. This model is also offered by KitchenAid in bisque, white, or black at a slightly lower prices (different colors differ in prices).

If you are willing to pay extra for a more polished look for your kitchen, you should consider the KitchenAid KECC508RPS.

Pro: sleek, embedded digital controls
Con: expensive, offers the power of high end gas cooktops, but not the control
