KitchenAid Architect II Series KBHS179SSS

Date Published: 6/26/07

Beautifully styled, the 27-inch built-in KitchenAid Architect II Series KBHS179SSS is both a microwave and an oven. Unfortunately, this model does not allow you to use both microwave and convection functions together.

The KBHS179SSS performs like a typical microwave oven for tasks such as cooking, thawing and reheating. Simply microwaving or baking in this model is relatively easy. It also operates exactly like an oven for baking a chicken breast, muffins, pizza or a small cake. The KBHS179SSS is very useful as both a microwave oven and a small convection oven, although it won't cook with both these functions simultaneously. This unit combines the convenience of both appliances into one secondary oven. An easy-convect setting converts your baking recipes from traditional times and temperatures to convection for you, so you don't have to do any complicated calculations.

A helpful sensor steps in when you're microwaving and eliminates the guesswork common to programming these ovens for multiple servings and variable portion sizes.

An expensive convection-microwave oven, the KBHS179SSS looks great and offers plenty. We just happen to feel that at this price, it could easily offer much more. Consider this model if your priority is a flawless built-in model that resembles a traditional wall oven. If value and versatility are more to your liking, you may wish to consider one of the counter-style convection-microwaves paired with a 27-inch built-in trim kit.

Pro: Beautiful built-in design, offers microwaving and baking with convection heat all in one unit
Con: Very expensive when compared to products offering similar capabilities, using cooking codes can be a challenge

Warranty
1 year, full; 5 years, controls and electric element; 10 years, inner cavity
