Kidde Carbon Monoxide Alarm KN-COP-IC
Date Published: 6/21/06
The Kidde KN-COP-IC is a wire-in unit and therefore should be installed by a qualified electrician.
Its advantages include the ability to interconnect to other Kidde devices (up to 24), such as smoke, CO, and heat alarms on one wiring network. (The unit's alarm will sound and will display "fire" if a smoke alarm elsewhere in the network is activated.) It can be installed on a wall or ceiling over any standard single gang electrical box, up to a 4-inch octagon junction box--although it is somewhat difficult to read the digital display when the unit is mounted on the ceiling.
In addition to the continuous digital display, the unit also has a peak-level button, which displays the highest CO recorded level since the unit was reset or unplugged, and a test-reset button, which allows you to immediately silence the alarm.
The Kidde KN-COP-IC has a battery (alkaline) backup in case of a power outage, quick connectors for easy installation, and a lockable battery compartment to deter tampering and theft.
