Kidde 900-0120 (KN-COB-IC) carbon monoxide detector six-pack
Date Published: 6/9/08
Alarms that are hardwired into your home's electrical system are a common choice -- particularly in new construction -- and the Kidde 900-0120 (KN-COB-IC) carbon monoxide detector is an effective option. The key benefit is that as long as there's electricity, the CO detector is active. And in case the power fails, these units also come with a 9-volt battery backup. This is a six-pack of CO detectors; this unit isn't available individually.
Note that hardwired alarms aren't as easy to install as battery-only models, and may require an electrician or contractor. Installers can link together the alarms on one wiring network, so if one alarm goes off, they all do. (Having connected alarms can make it easier for family members to be alerted -- and escape -- if CO is detected in another part of the house.)
These carbon monoxide detectors come with sealed covers, which keep contaminants from reaching the sensor and cuts down on false alarms. They also have tamper-resistant locks to help prevent battery removal or theft.
The Kidde 900-0120 (KN-COB-IC) carbon monoxide detector six-pack is covered by a 5-year limited warranty.
Pros: Ability to interconnect
Cons: Fairly basic model
