KidCo Safeway Model G20

The KidCo Safeway Model G20 is a sturdy, tall gate that can be hardware-mounted in stairwells and has an exclusive feature that prevents the gate from swinging out over the staircase. It is a wider-than-average gate, expanding to 43-1/2 inches wide. Extensions (sold separately) can make this gate even wider. We also like the height of this gate. At about 30-1/2 inches high, it is taller than most gates, and its vertical slats discourage climbing.
This is a "walk-through" gate, which means that releasing a two-step latch (childproof to most toddlers) will allow you to open a portion of the gate. This is a handy feature if you suspect that the gate will become a long-term part of your home's decor. It eliminates the need to step over the gate or to uninstall it frequently in order to get through a doorway.
The Safeway Model G20 comes with hardware and screws designed for mounting directly into wood. You may, however, find it necessary to purchase additional screws and anchors when attaching the gate to a wall made of sheet rock/dry wall. Additional screws or anchors are inexpensive, but if you find this purchase necessary, it will result in an extra installation step worth mentioning.
Still, this is a sturdy gate that is easy on the eye. The KidCo Safeway Model G20 is taller and wider than many other gates and is ideal if a child safety gate will be a semi-permanent addition to your home.
Pros: Taller and wider than many gates, wall-mounted
Cons: Pricey, may require additional hardware
