Kenmore Progressive 35922 upright vacuum

The Kenmore Progressive 35922 is a sleek-looking upright vacuum that powers through pet hair. Removing unwanted feline or canine strands does appear, in fact, to be its specialty. We put it through its paces, rounding up kitty's hair and dander, and it seemed to do the job with ease. There's even an indicator light that lets us know when the dirt and debris is no longer entering the bag. This helpful signal is a nice way to know that carpets are as clean as they look.
The Kenmore Progressive 35922 has powerful suction that picks up even larger particles. It has a system called Inteli-Clean that senses areas of the carpet that are more heavily soiled and powers up accordingly. This is an interesting feature and it seems to work as intended. However, we wouldn't buy the Progressive for the Inteli-Clean system alone.
The Progressive also works on bare floors, such as hardwood and tile. It has four height adjustments to accommodate various carpet piles. These adjustments must be made manually. Some of the Progressive's more expensive competitors have an automatic height-adjustment feature. We prefer the automatic version, but the Progressive's system isn't difficult to adjust.
We also like the Progressive 35922's construction. It uses a belt-less drive system, so there are no belts that will break or need replacement. The Progressive uses a HEPA filtration system. It has a cloth bag that is part of the HEPA filtration system, and this bag will need to be replaced when full. This is an added expense, but not an exorbitant one.
It's important to note the Progressive isn't as lightweight as a few of its competitors, and this can make it more of a chore to push. A longer attachment hose would be a helpful addition, but the onboard accessories work nicely -- with the exception of the upholstery tool. Occasionally it gets longer pet hairs wound around the brush, which causes it to stop turning.
There's a lot to like about the Progressive 35922, such as its cleaning power on carpets and bare floors. The HEPA filtration system works well and its easy to change out a full bag for a new one. Despite a few complaints about the vacuum's weight and attachments, it successfully bucks the bagless trend. It also costs less than many of its bagless competitors, which earns it high marks.
