Kenmore Elite Oasis Canyon Capacity Dryer ClearView Door 77082 (gas)/ 67082 (electric)
Date Published: 6/24/08
Dryers are really very simple appliances, so it's hard to justify a price of nearly $1000, but you can't blame Sears for trying. The gas (77082) and electric (67082) versions of the Kenmore Elite Oasis dryers are exactly the same, except of course for their operating fuels.
The most noticeable difference in this dryer is its see-through or ClearView glass door. It's billed as a feature that allows you to check laundry without opening the door. We don't know about you, but we can't tell whether or not our clothes are dry without touching them. No other reasons for the door are readily apparent, but it sure looks impressive!
In terms of actual convenience, the dryer's drum is mounted higher than most, thus loading and unloading is much easier. And if getting lots of laundry done quickly is your priority, you'll really appreciate Kenmore's Cavern Capacity with 7.5 cubic feet of drying space. It's so large they've even added lighting to help you find every last article of clothing.
This dryer uses two motors instead of the usual one. These two motors work together to maximize drying performance by adapting to moisture levels, temperature, load size, and the vent path of the dryer hose. While these motors work to perfect drying, they also add plenty to the cost of the appliance and open up potentially costly repair issues.
Added accessories include a unique dryer rack that is actually heated, encouraging items such as sweaters to dry up to three times faster. A full range of setting and cycles compares favorably with other similarly priced high-end dryers. Half of the top-of-the line Oasis pair of washing machine and dryer, this unit comes in white, graphite, or an unusual Pacific Blue.
Each of the Kenmore Elite Oasis dryer models (77082 and 67082) offers just about everything that a dryer possibly can. It's just a matter of whether or not you need these features and if you are willing to pay for them.
Pros: Two motors work great together, fully featured machine
Cons: Expensive, two motors could potentially lead to costly repair
