Kenmore's Elite 78722 is a medium-size cabinet-depth refrigerator, with 21.0 cubic feet of space inside. You'll find 14.7 cubic feet of space in the fresh foods compartment and 6.3 cubic feet in the pullout freezer. This fridge is ideal for a small family, but a larger family would likely find this fridge to be too small.

With energy prices rising, we especially love the energy efficiency of this model. It runs on approximately 484 kWh of electricity each year, so you can count on spending about $53 a year to run it -- less than $5 a month in electricity.

This model has plenty of great features, and its bins and shelves have a solid feel. The doors have a total of five adjustable see-through pick-off bins, plus a dairy keeper. Inside the main compartment are four adjustable half-width glass shelves with a spillsaver feature. All four shelves slide out so you can easily reach items in the back of the refrigerator.

We like the well-designed bins in this cabinet-depth fridge. There is one full-width pullout deli/snack drawer that has a temperature control feature. Also included are two half-width humidity-controlled clear crisper drawers that have a tilt-out front. Because this is a cabinet-depth model, the crisper drawers are much shallower -- and have much less capacity -- than crisper drawers in non-cabinet depth models. For vegetable and fruit lovers, the small drawers can be a real drawback.

The freezer drawer pulls out to give you a bird's eye view of your frozen foods. The freezer has two slide-out white wire baskets, one of which can be removed, in addition to an automatic ice maker. The ice maker can make cubes of varying sizes. There are five temperature sensors within the freezer, so you can be sure that your frozen items will remain frozen.

Although the Kenmore 78722 is attractive in white, it is also available in stainless steel as well as a very striking Black Pearl Framed Mirror Glass Door finish, which makes the fridge doors appear like a mirror. A solidly built bottom-freezer refrigerator, this unit has some thoughtful features, a pleasing exterior and is nicely energy efficient, which all make this model a nice choice for a small family or couple.
