In particular, this fridge sports a through-the-door water-delivery system, which is relatively uncommon in a top-freezer model. The 74222 dispenses chilled water through an integral filter, and the entire dispenser apparatus extends only an inch into the refrigerator compartment, so you don't lose much storage space. However, the dispenser doesn't provide ice, but it is still a welcome feature.

The 74222 has 20.6 cubic feet of space inside, including 15.3 cubic feet in the main refrigerator compartment. The fridge measures just 29-5/8 inches wide, so it is a great choice if you have limited kitchen space. The 74222 is best suited for a small family, and since it costs just $39 to operate annually, it proves to be an economical choice as well.

As we mentioned, the 74222's nifty through-the-door water dispenser doesn't take up much space inside the cabinet door. The door includes four bins and a clear covered dairy compartment. The refrigerator space has four half-width, slide-out tempered-glass shelves that are adjustable for height, and they all have a spill-saver lip. There is also a pair of crisper drawers with adjustable humidity controls, a full-width snack drawer, an egg caddy and a bottle rack.

The 74222's freezer is nicely configured and includes an automatic ice maker and a bucket. The door has two full-width wire compartments that tilt out for easy accessibility, and the freezer also sports a slide-out shelf.

While the 74222 performs well, more sophisticated temperature controls would be welcome. For example, the freezer's temperature controls are located on the back wall of the freezer, so it can be very difficult to adjust the temperature when the compartment is loaded with frozen food.
