Kelty Redwing 2650 daypack
Date Published: 1/8/07
The Redwing daypack backpack has been a popular model in the Kelty lineup for some time. It combines many useful features and hits the sweet spot between an urban pack and a true outdoor daypack backpack. The Redwing 2650 is a front panel-loading pack; this is probably the most efficient way to access a smaller pack. Inside the main compartment there is a pocket that can be used to hold a hydration reservoir or other items; there is also a tube port.
Outside, there is a front pocket with an organizer panel with key clip and small map pocket. There are also two side pockets, secured with zippers, mesh water bottle pockets, as well as a stash pocket, and a security pocket. You will also find a daisy chain, lash tabs and an ice-tool loop. Also, there are side compression straps to secure loads. The shoulder straps are anatomically curved for a better fit, are lined with a moisture-wicking mesh, and are fitted with a sternum strap. The hipbelt uses a mesh material, is very lightweight, has belt stabilizers, and is also removable/stowable. The hipbelt and the padded back panel are also lined with wicking fabric.
A lightweight aluminum stay helps support loads that would not be suitable in most other daypack backpacks. This style pack is also available large size, model 3100. This daypack backpack comes is a variety of color combinations. If you are looking for a simple way to carry a few books, the Redwing is probably overkill. It is more than adequate for simple loads, but it can also be called upon to work as a more serious trail pack. As Kelty puts it, the Redwing daypack backpack is a day-and-a-half pack.
