Kelty Pagoda 4 family tent
Date Published: 1/8/07
The Kelty Pagoda 4 is a family tent designed to accommodate four people, snugly. Somewhat unusual for a family tent, the Pagoda 4 is very robust and could be used far beyond the picnic campground. This extended use is further promoted by a relative weight that is much lighter than most family tents.
The Pagoda 4 family tent is a freestanding tent with four poles and large windows and side/ceiling ventilation areas. There is also a foot vent. The Pagoda 4 family tent also features two large doors and a vestibule. Some family tents use heavy fiberglass poles; this tent uses DAC aluminum poles. The polyester rainfly is coated to resist aging from UV exposure. For easy setup, the tent clip points are color coded for correct orientation. The floor seams are off the ground and taped for waterproofing. For added stability, there are guyout points. The zippers are noiseless in the wind. Inside, there are numerous pockets to keep things organized.
The Pagoda 4 is a family tent, but it does not have the usual large, heavy design suitable only for tailgate camping. Instead, it is smaller and more compact and thus also suitable for backpacking groups. Though it can sleep four people, its footprint is quite small. For longer trips, this tent might be more suitable for three people with extra gear. Still, for a casual one night under the stars, it could accommodate four people. The Kelty Pagoda 4 family tent, in some ways, is more aptly considered as a three- or four-person backpacking tent.
