JVC XV-NP1SL DVD player
Date Published: 1/9/08
Beyond the usual functions of a single-disc DVD player, JVC's XV-NP1SL sports a memory card slot to access digital audio and image files directly from most card formats.
This is a great feature for digital music and photography fans. Instead of transferring material to disc, users can simply insert a SD/MMC, SmartMedia, Compact Flash, or Memory Stick card and view stills or access MP3 and WMA directly through the TV. Of course, the XV-NP1SL can also handle JPEG images and digital music files burned to CD-R/RW. This is enhanced by the inclusion of a high-resolution on-screen graphical user interface that offers Windows-like navigation of the player's functions.
To enhance image quality, the player comes equipped with JVC's video fine processor that provides seven picture adjustments for customizing the video display to user preferences. It offers progressive scan output for superior resolution when hooked up to a digital TV, and the XV-NP1SL also has the standard complement of composite and S-video outputs for connecting to almost any analog TV.
This DVD player has plenty of playback features, including a useful Express Play Start function. With the XV-NP1SL, the first scene from a single-layer DVD will display on the TV screen in only 4 seconds. The player also features a one-touch instant replay function, variable and slow playback speeds, and a quick search mode, as well as a three-step zoom and disc memory resume for up to 30 different titles.
The player offers optical and coaxial digital audio outputs, so Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound signals can be routed to a full-feature A/V receiver. A multibrand remote control completes the package.
The XV-NP1SL from JVC is a slim, all-in-one player that is also compatible with DVD-R/RW, VCD, and SVCD.
