JVC's LT-32X506 is a 32-inch widescreen LCD TV that won't break the bank. This thin silver display comes with a detachable tilt-and-swivel stand, so it can be positioned on a table or counter as well as mounted to a wall (separately available hardware is required). Stereo speakers are built in below the screen, while control buttons and a headphone jack are located along the side of the monitor where they are easy to reach but out of sight.

The LT-32X506 is HD-ready, so the addition of an external HD receiver will deliver high-definition viewing. Even without a receiver, however, the display is very crisp and sharp, with a native resolution of 1,366X768. A 3-D Y/C digital comb filter eliminates rainbow effects and hanging dots, ensuring that colors do not bleed or run. Movies are treated to 3:2 pulldown conversion, which restores smooth motion to action scenes. The LT-32X506 does not have a CableCARD slot, so a cable box is necessary for all but basic cable services.

The internal stereo system is rated at 10 watts of audio output, and simulated surround sound can create a 3-D effect using only the two internal speakers. The wide-format screen is ideal for movies or high-definition content, and other content can be viewed with the help of four aspect modes. Video presets are configured for theater, dynamic, or standard content. Convenience features include a previous channel return, an adjustable sleep timer, and a front-panel lock.

There are plenty of connectivity options on the LT-32X506, including an RF input, three composite video inputs, one S-video input, and one component video input. No HDMI or DVI input is included, and there is no optical digital audio output, but a set of fixed audio outputs are provided for linking to an external stereo system or speakers. The remote control is a universal model that makes it possible to unify control of the connected components.
