The JVC LT-17X475 is a 17-inch LCD-screen TV with a wide format, elegant design, top performance, and plenty of multimedia flexibility. The modernistic 17-inch model is silver and gray, with an oval base, a built-in handle for easy portability, and inputs hidden on the rear panel to keep the front of the set clear of cords. The base can be removed so the thin, light monitor can be wall-mounted using separately available hardware. Clips in the rear of the set help keep the cords and cables organized and out of sight.

The LT-17X475 can accept 480i or 480p signals, and the high-resolution display delivers 1,280 by 768 pixels, for an XGA picture (but will only display up to 480p). Like most LCD TVs, the LT-17X475 is bright enough to be viewed in bright daylight, under full overhead lighting, or in a darkened room. A 3-D Y/C digital comb filter handles the cable or antenna input, eliminating dot crawl. The wide-format screen can be viewed from up to 176 degrees, and there is a choice of four screen configurations when viewing standard or wide-screen content.

The audio system can be set up for simulated surround sound, making the set's two internal speakers sound like even more, or the audio can be sent to an external stereo system using the fixed audio output and the subwoofer output. Convenience features include a return button to jump between two channels, a front panel lock to protect the settings from children's explorations, and an automatic shut-off when programming has ended.

The LT-17X475 has a set of component video inputs, an S-video input, and one audio/video input, as well as a 15-pin D-Sub PC input with a stereo mini-jack that can bring PC audio and video content to the screen. It is equipped with picture-in-picture functions, and the PIP window can even be used to monitor a TV show while working on PC content. A stereo headphone jack makes it easy to listen in privacy, which comes in very handy when the LT-17X475 is used in a room where others are engaged in competing activities. The remote control can be used with a DVD player or VCR.
