JVC's KD-SHX850 is a very exciting CD player. With its integrated SD memory card slot, the KD-SHX850 can play WMA or MP3 files. The system also has built-in amplification of 39 average watts (70 peak watts) into four channels, while many comparable head units only offer 22 watts.

In addition to its considerable internal amplification, the KD-SHX850 also has 5-volt preamp outputs for all four channels plus a subwoofer. There is a nine-band digital equalizer and a three-band parametric equalizer, and digital time alignment adjusts the delay times from each of the speakers. The KD-SHX850 also has a shockproof memory to handle bumpy situations without skipping a beat.

Although the 256-color OEL display is small, the brightness and clarity makes up for its lack of surface area. This is one of the best displays available. The rest of the removable, motorized faceplate is very simple. For satellite music fans, the system is Sirius-ready. With more power than many similar CD receivers and one of the nicest displays available, the KD-SHX850 is a worthy Best Buy.
