Although there's no question that the Jenn-Air JFC2089HES is an attractive, well-appointed bottom-freezer refrigerator, the price of this model is high when compared to similarly-featured models.

The Jenn-Air name has become synonymous with upscale, quality kitchen appliances, and this is largely true of the Jenn-Air JFC2089HES. It has a very stylish stainless steel exterior with industrial-style towel-bar handles for both refrigerator doors and the pullout freezer drawer. Interior appointments are, for the most part, also top-notch, although there quality could be improved in some places.

The JFC2089HES is on the small-medium side, with 19.8 cubic feet of space in both fresh foods and freezer compartments. You'll find 14.4 cubic feet of space in the main compartment and 5.4 cubic feet of space in the freezer. If this cabinet-depth refrigerator is going to be placed in a home with a big family, however, you might want to pick up a second refrigerator for the basement, because this model doesn't have sufficient capacity to handle the food storage needs of many people in one household. The JFC2089HES is relatively energy efficient, using about 480 kWh of energy each year, so you can expect to pay about $43 annually to operate this model.

There are many welcome convenience and performance features in the Jenn-Air JFC2089HES, such as an internal water dispenser that delivers water through an integral filter. This French door model also has a "smart seal," which ensures that the fridge doors seal tightly and do not rub together. Another great feature is the full-width deli drawer; its top flips up smoothly when the drawer pulls out, and there's plenty of space inside to store cheeses, snacks or even a deli platter. Other interior features include four adjustable half-width slide-out tempered glass shelves with a spill saver feature and two deep, clear, humidity-controlled crisper drawers, which felt a little wiggly when being pulled out. The left door has two gallon-sized clear-front adjustable door bins and a clear dairy compartment, while the right door sports three gallon-sized door bins. Extras include a can rack, egg caddy and bottle caddy. Electronic temperature controls are up front and easy to use.

On the negative side, the freezer is small and the two pullout removable baskets are bare metal; they look great, but if you touch the freezing bare metal with your hands, they will stick.

Jenn-Air has included a small plastic panel on the front of the top pullout basket of the JFC2089HES. An automatic icemaker and bucket are also included.

The Jenn-Air JFC2089HES cabinet depth stainless steel refrigerator is a nicely appointed, stylish upscale model, but its high price and slight drawbacks contribute to this model's relatively low value rating.
