In the popular side-by-side configuration, the Jenn-Air JCD2290HE is a medium-capacity fridge, with 21.6 cubic feet of interior space. Of that total capacity, 13.5 cubic feet is fresh foods space and 8.1 cubic feet is devoted to the freezer compartment. To compensate for the reduction in depth, this appliance stands 70 inches tall, so be sure you have adequate space to place such a tall fridge before you purchase this model.

We liked the energy efficiency of the Jenn-Air JCD2290HE. While not super efficient, it runs on about 537 kilowatts of electricity a year, which means that with current electric prices, you can expect to pay about $59 to run this counter-depth refrigerator on an annual basis.

You will be delighted with the extra features inside this counter-depth refrigerator. Interior features range from solid metal crisper drawer glides to handy elevator shelves. The door has a total of three adjustable/removable pick-off bins that are clear but framed in white plastic for appearance and durability. It also includes a beverage chiller compartment that uses frozen air from the freezer compartment to keep cans, bottles and jugs several degrees colder than the rest of the fridge. The door bins are deep enough to hold gallon-size containers, which is a great feature for a cabinet-depth model. The door also has a covered dairy compartment.

The fresh foods compartment is brightly lit and inviting. It also has a sophisticated temperature control system. The Jenn-Air JCD2290HE has twin controls that each monitor and adjust interior temperature in different areas of the fridge. The two sealed crisper drawers have an automatic humidity control feature and the snack drawer can be adjusted for temperature. Each of the three glass shelves has a spillsaver feature, can slide out and can be adjusted for height. In fact, two of the shelves are actually elevator shelves that move up and down with a turn of the lever. There's also a fixed shelf over the snack drawer. Digital temperature controls are on the top center of the fresh foods compartment.

The freezer in the Jenn-Air JCD2290HE is a bit cramped because a substantial portion of the freezer space is taken up by the automatic ice maker. The freezer does have twin electronic interior climate controls that keep the compartment nice and freezing cold. There are three white wire shelves and a tall white wire basket in the compartment and three tilt-out freezer door baskets plus one removable bin.

We love the through-the-door ice and water dispenser because its opening is tall enough for tall pitchers and bottles. The dispenser delivers water and ice through an integral PuriClean II filtration system. And the dispenser has a child lock as well as light.

The Jenn-Air JCD2290HE comes in white, black or stainless steel. It packs in a lot of value and includes many features that will make this side-by-side refrigerator a pleasure to own.
