With a vast cooking surface, this expansive cooktop combines four standard-powered burners with a gas grill. As an option, an additional module of two more burners can be purchased to have on hand when quantity cooking is in order and the grill is not needed. We recommend this cooktop, with its unobtrusive downdraft ventilator, for installations where an open floor plan and clean uncluttered look are the design goals. Further enhancing the luxurious design are drop down controls, which like commercial-grade equipment, dip down over the front of the cabinetry.

More powerful than a standard recirculating hood, this ventilator gets the job done, even though it lacks the powerful draw of the true commercial-style hoods. Equipped with two settings, the ventilator can be used on low to keep noise to a minimum or switched to high speed in order to remove accumulating smoke, grease and heat.

The E-ven Heat grill on the JGD8348CDP makes a convenient kitchen addition, but at the same time presents some cleaning challenges. Under the cooktop you'll find a grease receptacle that will need occasional emptying. After use, the grill will need to be disassembled for either hand or dishwasher cleansing. The surface of the cooktop will require quite a bit of grease removal and the use of a fairly strong cleaning product to make it shine. Maintenance of the grates is not too difficult as they are made easy to clean thanks to a nonstick DuPont Silverstone Supra surface.

When considering this product, you need to make sure you have access to an outside wall for ventilation. A separate blower and ductwork are required for proper operation. Often the ductwork will be installed under the flooring or through the bottom of a cabinet. Be sure to discuss your installation requirements with the salesperson before purchase in order to ensure that this product is compatible with your kitchen plan.

A versatile product that can greatly expand the range of what foods are prepared indoors, Jenn-Air's JGD8348CDP offers some of the benefits of a commercial cooktop, but in a more reasonably priced residential version.
