IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier

Date Published: 6/28/05

The IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier is a step up from most of the air purifiers we've reviewed. Originally developed for "clean room" use, such as in hospitals, this unit may be more than most people need. But for homes with people who are highly sensitive to allergens or where there is someone who is ill and can't afford to catch an illness from another family member, IQAir's HealthPro may be worth it.

Though two or three times more expensive than most other consumer units, it has the ability to capture up to 100 times more particles than conventional HEPA cleaners, according the manufacturer.

Coverage is greater than most other units as well. The HealthPro can handle up to 1100 square feet on its maximum fan speed. In addition, the superior quality H12/13 class certified HEPA filter can last up to 4 years, reducing maintenance time (but not cost, they run about $200). The pre-filter lasts 6 to 18 months, depending upon use (and is also expensive at $65 to $70). These filters are rated for removing particles down to 0.01 microns with nearly 99 percent efficiency. Other air purifiers typically only capture particles to 0.3 microns.

Other attractive features that the IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier offers include a built-in diffuser to reduce drafts, a six-speed fan that's power and long lasting, a remote controller, a timer and a carrying handle. Although the fan is relatively quiet, it is noisy on high speed.

Warranty
5 years (includes fan and motor, not filters)
