Integra DTM-5.3 multizone stereo receiver
Date Published: 1/14/08
Most modern receivers offer five or more channels of amplification as well as surround sound decoding, but the Integra DTM-5.3 is a member of the vanishing species of stereo receivers. And what a stereo receiver it is. To be more accurate, the DTM-5.3 is a three-zone, two-source unit that can deliver simultaneous signals to as many as four rooms, with two speaker A and B outputs. It can accommodate two different source signals separately, sending (for example) a CD signal to one room and FM radio to another.
The DTM-5.3 is rated at 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 130 watts per channel into 6 ohms. It will also accommodate 4-ohm loads. The receiver offers direct-access radio tuning with 30 memory presets, a subwoofer pre-amplifier output, a 12-volt trigger for a second zone, and a 12-volt input for remote turn-on. It also has a phono input for a turntable. For custom installations, the DTM-5.3 features an A-Bus port for distribution of audio via a CAT-5 cable.
The DTM-5.3 can serve several roles. It can operate as a stereo receiver in a conventional one-room system, or perhaps more interestingly, it can serve as the control center for a multiroom stereo system. This makes the DTM-5.3 especially attractive to custom installers looking for a low-cost multiroom solution.
