Hotpoint VWSR4160GWW top-loading washer
Date Published: 3/31/08
The Hotpoint VWSR4160GWW top-loading washer is a great value. While not loaded with bells and whistles, this moderately priced machine offers enough features to accommodate the laundry needs of most households.
With a 3.2-cubic-foot capacity, this Hotpoint is not the largest washer on the market, yet it can handle generously sized loads. The machine uses a 360-degree stroke of the agitator to gently and thoroughly clean your laundry. Hotpoint's HydroWave wash system utilizes variable speeds so that the wash action is matched appropriately to the fabric type. Hotpoint's FlexCare agitator is designed with gentle power in mind. The combination of the two features when used with the proper settings can eliminate fabric damage in the wash.
Although not a high-efficiency machine, the Hotpoint VWSR4160GWW does make an attempt to conserve water. Equipped with four water level settings, you can limit the amount of water used for smaller loads. For such a moderately priced model, the VWSR4160GWW has an impressive selection of 15 wash cycles. This variety provides enough versatility for virtually any of your laundry needs. The cycles include easy care and delicates, and three auto-soak options. Those with sensitive skin will especially appreciate the second rinse feature, which helps eliminate dirt and detergent residue. This model also features automatic bleach and softener dispensers so that you never have to interrupt a wash cycle to add these items.
With maximum spin speed of 630 rpm, the VWSR4160GWW removes a sufficient amount of water, but not enough to significantly reduce dryer times. The machine does operate fairly quietly for a moderately priced machine thanks to its Quiet-by-Design feature. It is a value-priced machine produced for General Electric's budget-friendly Hotpoint brand. If you're on a tight budget and unwilling to compromise on reliability, you will want to check out the well-featured-for-the-money Hotpoint VWSR4160GWW.
