Hotpoint NBXR333EGWW / NBXR333GGWW dryer
Date Published: 4/11/08
While not the most basic dryer you can find, Hotpoint's NBXR333EGWW (electric)/ NBXR333GGWW (gas) is pretty close. With simple dial controls, this model keeps it really, really simple.
Three basic cycles give you automated settings for cottons and selections for wrinkle-free drying. An 80-minute timed dry lets you set cycles for less durable fabrics by combining one of three temperature settings with manually selected drying times. Estimating the right time for delicate fabrics can be a bit tricky with this machine. For best performance, always underestimate the drying time to prevent fabric damage. You can go back and add drying time to wet clothes later if necessary, but shrinkage can't ever be reversed.
Equipped with a reversible door, the NBXR333EGWW/NBXR333GGWW lends itself to a variety of installations, including those next to a wall. Before you have this dryer delivered, make sure to indicate where the door is to be hinged for most convenient access. You don't want the door to interfere as you move laundry from the washer to the dryer, so if at all possible, have it hinged on the side opposite your washing machine.
Although its features are fairly basic, this machine has a generous capacity. Offering a 6.0-cubic-foot interior, this Hotpoint model isn't the largest dryer you can find, but it's very spacious for a model in a value-priced line and it is still considered full size.
Manufactured by General Electric, the NBXR333EGWW/NBXR333GGWW, like all of the company's subsidiary Hotpoint products, offers basic, practical and functional features at particularly affordable prices. If your goal is to keep the cost of your purchase low, but own a dryer that offers a bit of flexibility, then this Hotpoint model may be well worth considering.
Pros: Value priced, basic but with heat settings you can control
Cons: Limited, yet functional number of cycles
