Replacing the F5866-900 SteamVac Deluxe is Hoover's F5888-900, which, although an upgraded version, is still priced the same at about $200. The new deep cleaner includes a powered hand tool with two SpinScrub brushes, a nice bonus attachment that is great for thoroughly cleaning upholstery, stairs, or spot areas with ease. The main cleaner features five SpinScrub brushes, which are intermeshing, rotating brushes designed to clean multiple sides of the carpet fibers for better overall cleaning results. For longer life, the brushes can be removed without tools and cleaned with ease. A full-size 12-inch cleaning path and 24-foot power cord enable maneuvering around a nice-size room with relative ease. Other features include a carrying handle, built-in measuring cup, large wheels, 8-foot stretch hose, and onboard upholstery nozzle with built-in brush for gentle, but effective, cleaning. Separate 1-gallon clean and dirty water tanks are easy to fill and empty at the sink. A choice of two brush speeds are offered for regular deep cleaning and, when needed, for more delicate scrubbing. Although Hoover offers more powerful and feature-loaded deep cleaners, this model is a great selection in its own right, with many high-end attributes at a mid-range price.
