Hoover FloorMate H2800
Date Published: 11/14/06
Easy on the back and one of the least expensive plug-in alternatives to the mop and bucket, Hoover's FloorMate H2800 is getting rave reviews from many users. This floor-cleaning machine can be used to vacuum, wash and dry wood floors, tile floors and linoleum floor coverings. It comes packed with an 8-ounce bottle of floor-to-floor hard floor cleaning solution.
To use the FloorMate H2800, you fill the tank with solution and vacuum up any loose debris. Then you go over the floor using the trigger to apply wet cleaning solution. Next using the squeegee, you make a final pass over the floor in the drying mode to remove the solution and begin the drying process. Waste water is collected in a tank that requires empting. The best part of using this floor machine is that you never have to bend over. It makes an excellent choice for anyone prone to lower back pain and provides an alternative to hand squeezing out a mop.
Due to the bulk of this cleaning machine, it can be a bit difficult to pick up dry debris close to wall moldings and at the base of cabinets. Some users prefer to use a vacuum hose and tool first, in order to more effectively gather small crumbs and particles. This method, however, requires the inconvenience of getting two machines out of the closet. Floor Mate's two brushes work together to loosen soil from floors. Each brush is removable for thorough cleaning. A long cord is provided and offers a fairly good reach.
After a period of time, some users have complained of scarring and marking of the floor. This can be prevented with proper cleaning and maintenance of the brushes. More expensive than most cordless floor cleaning machines, the FloorMate H2800 is also more durable.
Pros: Use this machine without having to bend
Cons: Bulkiness makes it difficult to pick up debris in some areas such as at the base of cabinets
