Like most floor cleaning machines, the performance of Hoover's Floor Mate Spin Scrub 800 H3060 is a mixed blessing. It's favored by many for hard wood floor cleaning and generally less favored for its performance on tile and linoleum. Those with arthritis in their hands find the machine a pleasant respite from the pain of wringing water out of a mop, while those who demand the thorough cleaning of a hand washed floor are generally disappointed.

By any report, this floor-cleaning machine is far more expensive than any mop or floor cleaning cloth and bucket could ever be. It also out prices many of the effective rechargeable vac and mop-type units by $150. Although promoted as a model that will vacuum, Floor Mate generally disappoints in this arena as well. Far too much dirt is blown around by the machine, which then fails to do a sufficient job of picking up the debris. If your interest is primarily for floor washing and your desire is to eliminate mopping and hand washing all together, then this machine may warrant some consideration.

It's true you won't have to bend over at all to do the floors with this model. A wand with three hand tools also allows you to extend your reach to 8 feet for cleaning around toilets and getting into the grout around tiles. Two tanks, although small in capacity, work to keep the clean and dirty water separate and prevent water from being re-used on the floor. Still, due to the small capacity you'll have to make many trips to the sink to do a thorough cleaning job. And when you're finished, you'll need to wipe down the machine and clean out the brushes, before folding and storing. For these reasons, there is no benefit in terms of time savings with this machine either. Getting the job done right, even with this floor cleaning machine, remains as time consuming a job as ever.
