Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet Pro L7580

The Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet Pro L7580 is a good all-around unit. At a sub-$300 price, this unit is a great value, too.
Finding the "sweet spot" when purchasing a multifunction device seems pretty simple: Find as much value for your dollar as possible. That's easier said than done, however. Finding that perfect unit is difficult because everyone's needs are different and because some users aren't quite sure ahead of time how they'll use the unit.
The OfficeJet Pro L7580's printer works extremely well, running at a maximum speed of 35 ppm in "Draft" mode. Its top resolution of 1200x4800 dpi is good, and text and photo print quality is above average. The unit's copier also runs at a top speed of 35 ppm. You can resize original documents at between 25% and 400%.
When scanning, you'll appreciate the OfficeJet Pro L7580's slightly above average combination of speed and high-quality output (thanks to its 2400x2400 dpi optical resolution). You can send fax messages at speeds up to 20 ppm, and the OfficeJet Pro L7580's 50-sheet automatic document feeder makes it easy to fax or copy multiple-page documents.
Finally, the OfficeJet Pro L7580 is a heavy-duty unit that will work well in a busy home office or small office setting. It includes an Ethernet port for connecting to a network. The unit's 250-sheet paper tray should be plenty for even a busy SOHO setting; you won't waste a lot of time refilling the paper tray. HP says the OfficeJet Pro L7580 can handle up to 7,500 prints per month.
The memory slots on the L7580 support CompactFlash Type I and II, Memory Stick, Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard/Secure MultiMediaCard and xD-Picture Card. It's tough to beat this unit's combination of above-average features and reasonable price.
Pros: Very good all-around features, good value, can handle high workload, overall speed is very good
Cons: No specific photo-printing features, unit seems a little noisier than others
