If you're looking for the definition of an average laser multifunction device, Hewlett-Packard's LaserJet M1522nf MFP is likely the nearest to it that you'll find. There really aren't any annoying weaknesses or amazing strengths of the M1522nf; it's simply a handy, reliable unit that does many different things well.

For starters, the M1522nf prints text sharply and quickly. It can produce up to 24ppm, and it will approach that speed in most situations (unlike many budget-priced inkjet multifunction devices). Its resolution is 600x600 dpi, which is standard for laser devices.

The M1522nf's fax function offers a maximum transmission speed of 20ppm, and it can store up to 300 pages in memory, which is handy. You can also make up to 99 copies at a time, and thanks to the unit's 50-page automatic document feeder, handling large copy or fax jobs is easy. The M1522nf's scanner function allows you to scan documents in monochrome or color.

As with most laser-printing devices, the M1522nf is limited to monochrome printing; if you're looking for a multifunction device with photo-printing capabilities, you'll want to look elsewhere.
