Harman Kardon DVD 31 DVD-Audio/Video player
Date Published: 1/9/08
Harman Kardon is very proud of its DVD 31. This player visually complements the rest of the current Harman Kardon product line, with a very slim and attractive facade that only hints at its abilities. The unit uses an advanced pixel-by-pixel processor that provides excellent clarity and accuracy for video playback, and its progressive scanning compensates for the 3:2 film-to-video pulldown.
The DVD 31 handles playback of DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3- and WMA-encoded discs, as well as JPEG discs. For DVD-Audio, the DVD 31 employs a 192kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converter. Unlike many other DVD-Audio players, the DVD 31 has complete bass management controls, so you get full control of what goes to your main speakers and what goes to your subwoofer. In addition, the DVD 31 has controls for time delay, output level, and speaker size, so this is an ideal system to use with a less-than-capable A/V receiver.
Connectivity options include component video outputs, an S-video output, composite video outputs, coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, and multichannel (DVD-Audio) and stereo analog outputs. The DVD 31 is a gorgeous product with extensive versatility, and it has the ability to step in and cover for other pieces of A/V gear. This alone makes the DVD 31 a Best Buy.
