Harman Kardon CP 35 home theater system
Date Published: 1/8/08
Why settle for a 5.1 home theater system when you can have the Harman Kardon CP 35? The CP 35 is a wonderful 7.1 Frankenstein of a system, as it is composed of products that are also available separately. The CP 35 uses Harman Kardon's AVR 335 A/V receiver, DVD 31 DVD-Audio/Video player, and HKTS 14 and HKS 4 speakers.
Every component in this terrific system can be upgraded, although it is doubtful anyone would ever want or need to do so. The Dolby Digital and DTS receiver has 192kHz/24-bit converters, with 70 watts into two channels or 55 watts into seven channels. It also has the EZSet+ audio auto-calibration system. The DVD player is compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, VCD, SVCD, CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3 and WMA stored on disc. This is a progressive scan DVD player, with component video, S-video, and composite video outputs. The system also has coaxial and optical digital inputs and outputs.
The speakers are all matched for a seamless soundstage. The six satellite speakers are of a two-way design, each with a pair of 3-inch midrange drivers and a 3/4-inch dome tweeter. The center channel speaker uses the same components in a horizontal configuration. Completing the speaker components is a powered subwoofer that features a 12-inch driver mounted in a bass reflex cabinet, as well as a 200-watt amplifier.
Most people could probably assemble a home theater system themselves, but with the CP 35, they will know they are getting a system designed to bring out the best from the individual components. While the price tag may be rather steep, you certainly get what you pay for with the Harman Kardon CP 35.
