The Hamilton Beach Wave Power Plus 12 Speed Blender 52644 provides super fast, ultra-smooth blending with no stirring and no hassles. This unit comes with a 56-ounce DuraBlend plastic jar, a two-piece plastic lid and a weighted 700-watt power base with pushbutton control panel. The DuraBlend jar is constructed to be 50 percent thicker than traditional plastic carafes for added strength and is significantly lighter than a glass jar.

By far, the best benefit of the Wave Power Plus blender is its unique blending action, which draws the mixture down toward the blades in a continuous wave-like motion called "Wave Action System." This results in some of the smoothest milkshakes, frozen cocktails and blended fruit drinks we've ever seen. Any ice in the mixture is crushed into particles so small as to not be noticeable in the finished drink.

You can also produce a batch of crushed ice (for adding to drinks, making snow cones, etc.) by first adding water to the blender to the halfway points then adding 2 cups of ice and blending to a fine granular consistency. You can drain off excess water or just scoop out ice with a slotted spoon.

The Hamilton Beach Wave Power Plus blender stands approximately 14 inches tall and has a 7x7.5-inch base. The white base has seven grey pushbutton controls, and one white Ice Breaker pulse control, which also serves as the unit's "off" button. Each of the buttons offers two speeds (depending on whether the Hi or Lo buttons are activated) to give you ample blending options.

We were impressed by the unit's speed and the fact that most mixtures required no stirring at all. We did make an ultra-thick smoothie, loaded with thick fruit pieces, which required one quick stir and came out exceptionally smooth and free from large ice or fruit chunks. We also noticed that, for all its power, the unit was surprisingly quiet compared to other models.

The Wave Logic Blender also has a Quick Clean feature, which can be used to rinse the blender between batches of the same food. The blender jar disassembles for more thorough cleaning.
