Centered on the front is the piercing lever with cutting blade, the metal can guide, and a hinged magnet to catch and hold the lid. To operate, simply grasp the back of the can opener, raise the piercing lever, position the cutting blade onto the rim of the can, and press the blade into the can. The tiny unit "walks" itself around any mid- to large-size can and automatically shuts off when the lid has been cut.

Short cans, such as tuna or pet food, and small-diameter cans may require you to hold the can while the opener works. The unit's smooth finish wipes easy clean, and the cutting assembly pops off for more thorough cleaning with a simple counterclockwise twist.
