The Hamilton Beach Toastation Toaster is half toaster and half oven. This clever space-saving device stands upright like a toaster, but also has a door and rack to accommodate oven items, such as tuna melts, pizzas, or frosting-covered pastries. The unit stands approximately 10 inches tall, 17 inches wide, and 10 inches deep at its widest points. A brushed silver finish with black front panel and knobs coordinates nicely with bright silver trim.

The 10.5-inch-long toast slot is 1.5 inches wide and handles two hearty bread, bagel, or English muffin slices. A slide lever lets you switch between the toaster and oven functions and two dial switches control the temperature (200-450 degrees Fahrenheit) and toast color (1-6). As an oven, the Toastation can handle two 16-inch pizza slices or two 5-inch personal pizzas, 10-12 biscuits, or 15 chicken nuggets on the supplied bake tray. The unit can be used for simple baking tasks; however, the temperature may need to be reduced to avoid burning.

The Toastation's real benefit, however, is for quick cooking, toasting, and re-heating. Its efficient heating elements surround the foods with a blanket of heat to turn out perfectly toasted breads, muffins, bagels, and more. Especially nice is the unit's ability to start the cooking in toast mode for toasted breads that will then be topped with sauce, cheese, or any number of add-ons to create an open-faced sandwich, grilled cheese, or mock pizza. Plus, because of its smaller oven capacity, foods cook faster, saving you time. In toast mode, the toast carriage pops up and the unit shuts itself off at completion of the cycle. In oven mode, the unit stays on until you turn it off so be sure to monitor cooking progress to avoid over-cooking foods.
