Hamilton Beach Sterling All-Metal Stand Mixer 63220
Date Published: 3/12/07
The Hamilton Beach Sterling All-Metal Stand Mixer 63220 is a beautifully designed appliance that rivals even the most powerful mixers in its class.
This unit has a heavyweight all-metal base and mixing arm, with a beautiful brushed metallic silver finish. It comes with a 4.5-quart stainless-steel mixing bowl, pouring shield and three mixing attachments: a flat beater, wire balloon whisk and dough hook.
Each of the attachments is designed to work independently, thanks to the unit's professional dual mixing rotation. The mixer head is designed to spin the heater, whisk or hook, while also rotating it around the mixing bowl. Since the bowl remains stationary, the rotation provides thorough bowl coverage and efficient mixing.
The power is activated by a slide lever. There are 12 speed increments, which range from slow to very fast. An electronic speed sensor adjusts the power to maintain a consistent speed with different batter consistencies.
We were extremely impressed with this unit's power and performance. A 400-watt motor propels the flat beater through the thickest batters with relative ease. Thin batters are a breeze for this unit and whipped cream is light and fluffy in record time.
The flat beater is by far the most useful of the attachments. It is well suited to all types of mixing -- from thin pancake batters to stiff mashed potatoes. The whisk is more of a lightweight accessory, suited primarily for whipping cream or egg whites. The dough hook, as its name suggests, cuts through thick dough and kneads it to a workable mass.
The all-metal construction and professional rotating mixing action of the Hamilton Beach Sterling All-Metal Stand Mixer put it in a class above most other stand mixers. Its price tag is also noticeably higher than many other mixers; however, the mixer is solidly built and designed to provide many years of reliable service. For those who are serious about cooking and baking, it's worth the investment.
