The Hamilton Beach ChefPrep 500 Watt Food Processor 70610 simplifies basic food preparation with its super fast, efficient chopping, slicing and shredding capability. This unit is styled in white and has a single silver dial control with three settings: 1, 2 and P (pulse). We loved the simplicity of the lid, which twists easily into position. The pulse setting has a spring-loaded mechanism that keeps the power activated only as long as you hold the dial at the P setting. This lets you achieve long or short bursts of power with the contents settling in between pulses.

The 10-cup-capacity work bowl provides ample room for family-size recipes. You can shred an entire block of cheese or knead dough for two standard loaves of bread. When chopping, we achieved excellent results when working with smaller batches (e.g., 2-4 cups of ingredients). Minimal pre-preparation of foods is required. Produce needs to be peeled and/or cut into medium-size pieces to fit in the bowl. We found that quartering an onion was sufficient to obtain finely chopped pieces.

This model comes with a transparent work bowl, lid with feed tube and food pusher, stainless steel chopping/mixing blade, reversible slicing/shredding disc and motor base. An optional crinkle cut/fine shredding disk is available separately. The unit has several built-in safety features. Both the bowl and the lid must be locked in position before the motor will operate. An easy clockwise twist locks the bowl onto the base and the lid onto the bowl. An interlocking plastic tab engages the motor activation switch.

Foods are processed in just seconds with this machine. The feed tube is 1.75x2.75 inches -- not quite large enough to fit a whole cucumber, but certainly large enough for a half cucumber, several carrots or even a block of cheddar cheese. When you are finished processing, all of the removable parts are dishwasher safe for easy cleanup.
