Graco Infant SafeSeat (Step 1) in Fusion 8A03QST

Date Published: 2/21/07

The Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat (Step 1) in Fusion 8A03QST features a trendy combination of colors. Shades of blue are color-blocked into a pleasing pattern and paired with a subtle gray base and shell.

While this stylish car seat looks good enough for buyers to bite at first glance, it has a few important improvements worth noting: Graco's new generation of SafeSeat (Step 1) Infant Car Seats will accommodate a child rear-facing up to 30 pounds and 32 inches tall. According to Graco, this car seat will fit 97 percent of one year olds, which is very important because children must remain in a rear-facing car seat until they reach one year of age and at least 20 pounds. In addition, the Graco Infant SafeSeat now features energy-absorbing EPS foam. This EPS foam lining helps provide additional protection during impact.

The Graco SafeSeat (Step 1) Infant Car Seat comes with a stay-in-car base that features a belt lock-off. This mechanism tightly secures the vehicle seatbelt and makes for easy installation. The base also has a dial adjustment that can be used with just one hand; this dial changes the angle of the base and helps achieve the correct installation level. The Graco Infant SafeSeat (Step 1) has a patent-pending five-point harness buckle that is easy to buckle and unbuckle. The five-point harness has a chest clip and can be adjusted from the front of the car seat.

The Graco Infant SafeSeat (Step 1) is lightweight and has a cushioned carrying handle. The Fusion model has a couple of extra features, including a 180-degree rotating canopy, removable infant head support and an all-weather boot for extra warmth. The all-weather boot has a built-in blanket. The Graco Infant SafeSeat (Step 1) in Fusion can be secured with several Graco stroller models to create a travel system.

Overall, we like the safety and convenience features available on the Graco Infant SafeSeat (Step 1) in Fusion, and if one's budget allows, it is a comfortable car seat for parent and baby to use.
