GoVideo VR2940 VCR/DVD recorder

Date Published: 2/19/08

The GoVideo VR2940 is not just a DVD recorder and progressive scan DVD player, but a four-head hi-fi VCR as well. Unlike many other DVD/VCR combinations, this unit will deliver DVD or VHS signals using any of its video connections, so there's never a need to switch video inputs.

The VR2940 records to either write-once DVD+R or rewriteable DVD+RW. The eight-event, 1-month timer makes recording favorite TV shows a breeze, and users can specify whether the recording is made to disc or tape.

The VR2940 also makes it an easy task to transfer old VHS recordings to DVD or transfer material from disc to tape (as copyright laws allow, of course).

Front-panel composite video inputs, as well as a FireWire (IEEE 1394) digital interface, enable the quick connection of a camcorder for the direct transfer of video to VHS or DVD. The rear panel of the VR2940 sports component video, S-video, and composite video outputs, as well as a coaxial digital audio output for the routing of surround sound signals to a full-feature A/V receiver. A second composite video input is also present. The package is completed by a relatively basic remote control.

The GoVideo VR2940 represents an excellent value for the money, especially for those looking for a space-saving device that takes care of just about all video reproduction and recording needs.
