Giant Sedona Women's

Date Published: 1/20/04

There's not a lot of variation within the comfort bike category in terms of overall performance, but there are subtle differences that can make one bicycle a better find than another. One of the best things about the Sedona Women's model is that it comes in a petite size 14, and with its smaller 26-inch wheels and step-through frame, the bike's a real find for shorter women. Since bicycle sizes are about as standardized as shoe sizes, going for a test spin is always essential. If the Sedona is right for you, its adjustable stem can help fine-tune the bike to your preferences. The riding position on the Sedona is fairly upright and relaxed, but not too laid-back. The saddle's comfy but not too soft--and it has a great patch of reflective material in the back for serious nighttime visibility. Suspension at the seatpost and the fork is not by any means meant for off-roading, but it will help smooth out rough pavement. Beginning, or just as likely returning, riders can cover a fair amount of ground with the twist-shifting 24 gear options, and the reasonably light aluminum frame makes getting the Sedona up onto your car's roof rack a less painful affair. The women's model is highlighted here, but a men's version without the step-through frame is available, too, and it's also a great value for the price.
