George Foreman GRP99

Styled in metallic silver with black trim, the George Foreman GRP99 is a family-sized contact grill, which boasts contemporary styling and a number of convenient features.
The GRP99 is part of the Next Grilleration line, which offers enhanced features such as removable grill plates. This unit also has a state-of-the-art digital control panel with pushbutton power, and time and temperature switches. Standard Foreman features, such as the 1.5-inch floating hinge and extra-tough nonstick cooking plates, also add to this unit's appeal.
We loved the custom control options, which let us determine the exact temperature (from 300 to 425 degrees Fahrenheit) and time needed (0-20 minutes). The unit's easy-view lighted displays show the chosen settings and let you see the time remaining in the cooking cycle.
The timer feature is more of a convenience than a cooking tool, since the grill will remain on and heated even after the set time has elapsed. We found this to be quite practical since we could go about other tasks while the timer counted down. It also made it easy to prepare multiple batches since resetting the timer is as easy as pushing the "+" button.
This model has an extra-large grill surface. It cooked four good-sized hamburgers to medium doneness in about 7 minutes on the 350-degree setting. This was slightly longer than some of the other grills; for faster results, you can use a higher heat setting. We also liked the convenience of being able to cook frozen burgers, steak and chicken breasts without first having to thaw them.
The GRP99 is handy for grilling all sorts of foods -- from vegetables to meats to toasted sandwiches. The sloped design channels grease and fats away while the foods cook. The freestanding drip tray sits in front of the lower grill plate to catch drippings; it is designed to tuck slightly underneath the front of the unit to be functional yet out of the way. You need to make sure the tray is in position before grilling any fatty foods, since grease starts to drip rather quickly.
This unit is bigger than some others in its class. The housing measures 16 inches wide by 14 inches deep by 5.5 inches tall at its widest points. That makes storage more of an issue; however, the ease of preparing family-style batches is well worth it.
This model also comes with George Foreman's Next Grilleration recipe booklet, which has more than 175 recipes for meals, marinades and more. Using a marinade in conjunction with the grill adds a distinctive flavor and zestiness of the food.
