General Electric Profile PTS22SHSSS top-freezer refrigerator
Date Published: 6/18/08
A medium-size refrigerator with style and lots of performance and convenience features, the General Electric Profile PTS22SHSSS is slightly expensive for a top-freezer model. However, if you're going to appreciate -- and use -- all the extra capabilities in this unit, the extra expense may be well worth the cost.
With an internal water dispenser that delivers chilled water through an integral filter, flexible freezer storage, bright lighting and quality construction throughout, the GE Profile PTS22SHSSS certainly has an impressive list of assets. It offers 21.7 cubic feet of space inside both fresh and frozen foods compartments combined. The fresh foods compartment has 15.35 cubic feet of space, and the freezer compartment has 6.35 cubic feet of space. Because this fridge is so nicely lit and bright on the inside, it appears larger than it is. However, this could be a great fridge choice for a small family. And it is energy efficient, using just 448 kWh of electricity each year. That means that you'll pay just $48 per year -- $4 a month -- to run this snazzy model.
Storage options have been maximized all throughout this unit. The door has a total of four half-width pick off adjustable bins, which are clear in front but opaque around the perimeter of the bin. There's also a full-width fixed bottom shelf that's completely clear in front to give you the best view of your bottles and condiments. A half-width clear dairy locker can also be found on the door.
Inside the fresh foods compartment are four half-width adjustable glass shelves with a spillsaver feature and a full-width shelf above the two humidity-controlled fruit and vegetable crisper drawers. Three of the four shelves slide out for easy access to foods stored in the back of the shelves. A half-width clear snack drawer and wire beverage/can rack round out the fridge features. The internal water dispenser is located on the top, left wall of the fresh foods compartment and is easily operated with a touch of the large blue button.
The freezer door has some upgraded shelving. There are two half-width door bins in the same style as the fridge compartment door bins, and one of the bins is adjustable for height. The full-width freezer door shelf tilts out to make it easier for you to store and access foods. In the main freezer compartment is a full-width white wire shelf that has a second level on one side. An automatic icemaker and bucket come standard.
Electronic digital controls are in the top, front of the fresh foods compartment and are very easy to operate. Color choices for GE Profile PTS22SHSSS top-freezer refrigerator are white, black, bisque or stainless steel. The white, black and bisque models cost about $200 less than the stainless steel model.
A fully featured fridge with great styling and flexible storage options throughout, this unit is slightly pricey, but for small families looking for a medium-size model with lots of performance and convenience features, the extra dollars spent may be well worth the extra cost.
