The General Electric FCM25SUWW chest freezer is an enormous, cavernous freezer with enough room to store all of your family's frozen foods.

The FCM25SUWW has a total of 24.9 cubic feet of space inside what's basically a large, open deep-freeze box with some extras to help you organize, store and access your frozen foods. To get a good idea of how huge this freezer is, consider that the largest-capacity refrigerator/freezer combos have this much space in the fresh food and freezer compartments combined. Before you buy this model, you should be absolutely certain you have enough room for such a large appliance; it will need more than six feet of space!

For such a large freezer, the GE FCM25SUWW is not a huge energy user, although it is not considered to be among the most energy-efficient models in its category. It uses approximately 569 kWh of energy each year, so you can expect to pay around $52 to use it for an entire year.

The FCM25SUWW is a manual defrost model, so you will need to defrost it several times a year or as needed. Since this freezer has such a large capacity, the task of defrosting it may be particularly time-consuming, especially if the freezer is full of items. However, the manual defrost means that items inside will be less prone to the "freezer burn" that frequently occurs with automatic defrost models.

The FCM25SUWW chest freezer is brightly lit inside and has a total of five freezer baskets. These plastic bins sit atop a ridge in the freezer space and can slide from side to side or lift out completely; there are two levels of these ridges, so you can have one layer of sliding baskets on top of another. These bins are a tremendous help when you're trying to store or find small items in this enormous freezer. Additional baskets or dividers would have been a great help, due to the tremendous capacity of this model.

Although it has a basic, white-textured steel design, the FCM25SUWW looks nice. It has power-on and alarm-on lights, as well as an alarm on-off button that is conveniently located in the handle. Additionally, the freezer's lock is right under the handle. The alarm sound, activated when the temperature inside rises above freezing, is sufficiently loud for you to hear inside the house if the freezer is in the garage.

The FCM25SUWW is a large, nice-looking freezer with some handy features and a bright light to help with food storage and organization.
