Gaggia Classic Stainless-Steel GSCLA SS14101
Date Published: 6/28/05
If you're in the mood for indulging in a delicious cup of espresso, cappuccino, or latte, the Gaggia Classic can deliver one double or two single shots in record time.
The basic components include the deep base (14x8x9.5 inches) that is constructed almost entirely of stainless steel, transparent 72-ounce water reservoir, black plastic drip tray, filter holder with 1-cup and 2-cup sieves, Turbo frother steam nozzle, tamper, removable power cord, and measuring scoop.
The controls consist of three basic switches: Power On, Espresso Brew, and Steam. A separate side knob is used to engage the Turbo frother.
When first starting the machine, you need to prepare the self-priming pump by dispensing a small amount of plain water through the brewing head. Be sure to allow the machine to fully heat (about 6 minutes) before brewing to get the hottest, most flavorful espresso.
The machine's internal components are equally impressive, with commercial-grade parts, dual external heating elements, and a high-wattage heating system for a faster initial heat-up time and optimum brew temperature.
There's a powerful 17.5 BAR Pump and chrome-plated brass Porta filter. Additional features include a cup warming area atop the machine and external water tank access port.
With the purchase, you also get a handy coffee brewing guide and instructional CD with helpful hints and advanced brewing and frothing techniques. An elegant black base is available separately and holds both the Gaggia espresso machine and Gaggia grinder in one convenient location to create your own "coffee bar."
We were impressed by the speed of the Gaggia Classic Stainless-Steel GSCLA SS14101, as well as its ease of use.
