Frigidaire GLEQ2152 / GLGQ2152 dryer
Date Published: 3/18/08
The Frigidaire GLEQ2152 (electric)/GLGQ2152 (gas) dryer is one-half of a mid-size, moderately priced laundry pair offered by Frigidaire. It takes up about the same amount of space as larger-capacity models and handles a few less items of clothing, but it also costs far less than comparable models.
The best thing about the GLEQ2152/GLGQ2152 is its outstanding design. It makes an impressive statement in the laundry room. Like the more expensive models, it can be stacked, placed under-counter or used side-by-side, preferably on an elevated pedestal. The color choices, however, are more limited. This dryer is currently sold only in white or black.
When it comes to features, this dryer offers our favorite -- a precision dry moisture sensor. This sensor monitors clothing to prevent shrinking and damage. Instead of drying clothing for a set period of time, the sensor shuts down the heat when it senses that a sufficient amount of moisture has been removed from fabrics. We're confident that you will find this sensor to be a feature that vastly improves the performance of drying your clothes.
With an interior capacity of 5.8 cubic feet, this unit is a bit smaller than some new dryers, which can be as large as 7.5 cubic feet. On the other hand, a 5.8-cubic-foot dryer will easily handle as much laundry as any traditionally styled dryer that you may have had in the past. The selection of cycles easily matches what you may find on other dryers. Seven automatic cycles and five temperature options provide plenty of versatility. Automated cycles can be adjusted to four varying degrees of dryness. As an option, the dryer can be set manually for up to 90 minutes of timed drying.
When it comes to wrinkle prevention, the GLEQ2152/GLGQ2152 offers the option of adding the auto press saver feature to a cycle. This feature alerts the dryer to go into an extended tumble at the cycle's end for the purpose of preventing wrinkles. Electronic controls make this dryer a somewhat high-tech choice. The cycles all have status lights, and a countdown keeps you updated on the time remaining until completion.
Good looking, versatile and well featured, the Frigidaire GLEQ2152/GLGQ2152 isn't the largest dryer you can find, but it is a cost effective way to outfit your home with some of today's exciting new laundry technology.
