Frigidaire FAA065P7A air conditioner
Date Published: 5/16/08
An effective yet inexpensive air conditioner, the Frigidaire FAA065P7A is a solid performer -- but it does have a few flaws. Still, if you're on a budget, it's hard to go wrong with a window/wall air conditioner that costs about $170 (even less if you can find it on sale).
This isn't the right model if you want to cool multiple rooms with one air conditioning unit. However, if you have a small room (about 200 square feet) to cool, the Frigidaire FAA065P7A works well. The 6,000-Btu/hour unit runs relatively quietly, but the energy-saving feature works a bit too well. It cycles the fan on and off with more frequency than we'd like, because it can be audibly distracting. This model has the typical white-on-white style of most window/wall units, and while it won't win any "best dressed" awards, it still is nicely designed. It has an electronic control panel that is intuitive to use, and with a single touch adjusts the temperature, fan speed and more. There also is a remote. The remote allows the user to control the temperature, and this is clearly a convenience feature we like. This air conditioner has an air filter designed to trap allergens and dust, and this ion filter is easy to access, thanks to a tilt-out panel.
We like the 1-year full warranty that backs this model because it is paired with a 5-year warranty on the sealed system. Overall, this is far longer than the warranty offered for many other brands of air conditioners, and it gives us just one more reason to spare the minimal bucks required to make this purchase. Overall, the Frigidaire FAA065P7A is a good choice for smaller spaces and has a reusable filter that may aide allergy sufferers.
Pros: Price, warranty
Cons: Cools small space
